Croxley Green Parish Council currently pays for a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) and under the arrangements with Hertfordshire Constabulary also gets another 'free'! In this area of our web site, our PCSO's tell us what they have being doing and give helpful advice.
The two PCSO's for Croxley Green are PCSO 6130 Ryan Legge (right) and PCSO 6509 Paul Chong-Iles (below right). You will also see around Community Police Officer 1094 Stephen Cooke and district PCSO 6523 Steven Jacob. From time to time they hold Bright Spots which are times when you can come and meet the Officers and discuss any issues which are of concern to you. Details of the Bright Spot "Beat Surgeries" can be found on our Event Page.
Here's what our Community Police are advising this Summer:-
Hope you are all well and have not been a victim of crime.
The crime rate is still continuing to decrease in the Three Rivers area and Croxley Green is still one of the best places to live and work in Hertfordshire.
If you are lucky to be taking a holiday this year. Here are some crime prevention tips.
You may have seen us in the village using a new piece of equipment SID (SPEED INDICATING DEVICE). This is a portable device that we set up on the side of a road where we have had complaints about speeding. This is a speed camera that captures the speed of the vehicle travelling on the road, if it reads under 30mph it gives a smiley face and what speed the vehicle was travelling and if the vehicle goes over 30mph it gives a sad face with what the speed is.
If the vehicle is travelling over 30 mph we take a note of the vehicle’s registration and a letter is sent to the owner telling them they were captured doing over 30 mph and what the dangers are. This letter is not endorsable but warns the owner that if they are seen speeding again action would be taken.
This has been a mostly positive step from people who have seen us by the side of the road and have thanked us for getting the traffic to slow down. We have even had an owner of a car who received the letter, approach us and thank us for reminding him of his speed as he had not realised how fast he travelled on that road nearly everyday.
So far we have been using the device on The Green. We have noticed that a lot of the speeders are actually locals that live in the area or work locally.
Hopefully you have seen us knocking on your door trying to sign you up for our Owl email system. This is part of a scheme where we have to knock on 5 houses a shift and offer crime prevention advice and discuss local issues as well.
Please if you do see a crime in progress or if you feel you need police immediately call 999. If you wish to report a suspicious vehicle/Person or incidents please call the new Non emergency number 101. If you wish to speak to one of the team about local issues please call 01707 354192 and state the name of the officer you wish to speak to.
