Chairman's Charities 2011/12

The Chairman of Croxley Green Parish Council, Councillor Nik Bennett, has announced his Charities for 2011/12.

Each year the Chairman holds fund raising events and the beneficiaries for 2011/12 will be The Stroke Club (Croxley Green) and Home Start (Watford and Three Rivers).

Stroke Clubs are local groups for those affected by stroke, including stroke survivors and carers. They aim to provide a regular meeting place for people to come together and share their experiences as well as opportunities to take part in a programme of activities. Stroke Clubs are run by groups of volunteers and are self financing.

Home-Start offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children in local communities throughout the UK and with British Forces in Germany and Cyprus. In particular funds raised by the Chairman's Charities events will go to the Watford and Three Rivers Branch.

Home-Start offers a unique service. They recruit and train volunteers who are usually parents themselves to visit families with at least one child under five, at home, and offer them informal, friendly and confidential support.
